Colorado State University Stable Isotope Laboratory (CSU-IsoLab)
Colorado State University Stable Isotope Laboratory (CSU-IsoLab) at NREL is a service, research and teaching facility for the study of isotopes in ecology and environmental sciences. CSU-IsoLab possesses three isotope ratio mass spectrometers (IRMS), several interfaces and preparation systems that enable isotope analyses of different elements (C, N, O, H) in solid, liquid and gas at atmospheric and trace concentrations. Thanks to a GC-pyrolysis-IRMS, the CSU-IsoLab will soon run compound specific mass spectrometry analyses. Within the lab, an area is designed for teaching, research seminars and small workshops.

The facility management maintains the instruments, develops methods and provides training. Internal and external research projects provide the operators to run samples on the instruments. Thanks to this arrangement our costs are competitive. We also provide graduate and undergraduate students valuable hands on experience with the instruments. In the last twelve years, 56 graduate and 21 undergraduate students have used the facility[u1]. CSU-IsoLab users within the CSU community come from many different departments and colleges.
The facility also provides analytical support to students and scientists from universities and research institutes around the world.
