NREL Scientists Participate in 24 hour BioBlitz

Two NREL scientists will be participating in the Grasslands BioBlitz 2004. The BioBlitz is to be held at the publicly owned managed grasslands near the border of Jefferson and Boulder counties in Colorado (the US Department of Energy’s Rocky Flats Visitors Center) on June 25-26, 2004. A BioBlitz is an event undertaken to identify as many species of plant and animals in an area as possible within 24 hours.

Drs. Emma Broos and Johnson Nkem from NREL have volunteered to identify soil microinvertebrates, specifically nematodes.

CAST Report on Climate Change to be released in Washington, D.C.

NREL senior research scientist Keith Paustian and others will be releasing a new climate change report in Washington, D.C. on May 11 and 12. The report Climate Change and Greenhouse Gas Mitigation: Challenges and Opportunities for Agriculture , released by the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology (CAST), highlights agriculture's complex, pivotal roles as both a source and a sink for the increase in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
