Surface Observations

A growing network of near surface measurements is adding to the few sites already in operation. Doctors Niall Hanan and Bob Scholes have maintained tower operations in Kruger National Park, Skukuza, South Africa since 2000, providing one of the longest such records on the continent. Tower-based observations of land-atmosphere exchanges are essential for parameterizing and testing models, which may then be used to expand beyond the spatial and temporal domain of observations to predict continuous fields of water, carbon, and energy fluxes. To learn more visit Kruger Tower.
