This document describes the files used for Century runs discussed in Parton et al. (2004).

The CENTURY model was used to simulate changes in total system carbon resulting from land-use history (1850-2000), and impacts of climate changes and improved land-use managment practices in Senegal.

The ecoregions are matched to the schedule files we developed for the regions as follows: 18 - Northern Pastoral Sandy Region, lu18.sch 87 - Ferruginous Pastoral Region, lu87.sch 90 - Southern Pastoral Sandy Region, lu90.sch 433 - Casamance, lu434.sch, lu435.sch, lu436.sch, and lu437.sch (Note: The schedule files will be assigned in a random fashion to the cells representing this region in such a way that 70% of the cells will use schedule files lu434.sch, 10% of the cells will use lu435.sch, 10% of the cells will use lu436.sch, and 10% of the cells will use lu437.sch.) 434 = lu434.sch 435 = lu435.sch 436 = lu436.sch 437 = lu437.sch 445 - Shield Region, lu445.sch 451 - Eastern Transition Region, lu451.sch 933 - West-Central Agricultural Region, lu933.sch 941 - Agricultural Expansion Region, lu939.sch and lu940.sch (Note: The schedule files will be assigned so that cells that are defined as lateritic will use schedule file lu939.sch and the cells with non-lateritic soils will use schedule file lu940.sch.) 939 = lu939.sch 940 = lu940.sch 942 - Saloum Agricultural Region, lu942.sch 999 - Nikolo National Park, lu999.sch The site specific input files, .100, are not included in this archive as, when the simulations run, these input files are updated for the current site being simulated with site specific weather data and soils data for each of the 1700 grid points.
