Century simulations will write results to files in either netCDF or spreadsheet format. You are asked for the type of output file when you select Output File from the Simulation menu, or press the Output File button on the toolbar.
The netCDF file format is a structured file format which is portable across computer platforms (transfer as "binary" file type), but cannot be viewed with a text viewer or editor. You will need a software application that can read netCDF files. A future version of CMI will allow these files to be viewed and variables to be plotted.
The netCDF files have the extension "nc". Six output files are
created, with file names and contents as follows:
(To Do: table)
Spreadsheet output files are text files formatted as comma-separated values (CSV), which can be imported into most spreadsheet programs. Older vesions of some spreadsheet programs (such as Quattro Pro version 5 and earlier) may not allow enough columns to import the file. After importing into your spreadsheet program, you can graph the variables of your choice using the graphics functions of the program.
The spreadsheet files have the extension "csv". Six files are created, with file names and contents described in the section Spreadsheet Output Description.
