The Hadley Centre are now an official partner in the GEFSOC Project. Since Dr Pete Falloon's move from Rothamsted research, he has maintained involvement in the GEFSOC Project, working alongside former colleagues from Rothamsted. It was therefore decided to make the involvement of the Hadley Centre official. In addition to ensuring Pete's continued involvement The Centre will also offer access to output from state of the climate models Secondary SOTER datasets can now be downloaded by project members from the secure area of the project website. Model/GIS linkage meeting Immediately prior to PSC 3 (on the 21st and 22nd June) the two modelling groups (Rothamsted and NREL) held a meeting in Rothamsted, UK, to determine the precise methodology to be used in linking the SOM models to GIS. PSC 3 The third Project Steering Committee meeting was successfully held from June 23rd - 26th 2004 at ISRIC - World Soil Information, The Netherlands. Workshop 5 will now be held during the last week of September 26-30th (dates to be confirmed) at IIASA in Austria. This will come at the end of the one month period that the case study country researchers will have spent at IIASA. START Visiting Scientist success! Congratulations to Dr Carlos Eduardo Cerri, Dr Tapas Bhattacharyya, Dr Rida Al-Adamat and Peter Kamoni who have been awarded Visiting Scientist awards by START (System for Analysis Research and Training). These awards will enable them to spend one month working with colleagues at IIASA on the development of land use change scenarios for Brazil, The Indogangetic Plains (India), Jordan and Kenya.
