NEW CSU VIP TEAM: Snow_Varies

GOALS: To collect and analyze big data about the distribution of snow and snowpack properties. Such information will help provide improve water resources forecasting, and provide better ground-truth informnation for remote sensing.

KEY ELEMENTS: Snow Science, Hydrology, Meteorology, Data Analysis and Visualization, Geographic Information Systems, Sensor Design, Mobile App Design and Development

RESEARCH ISSUES: Spatial and temporal variability of snowpack properties, Rates and degree of variability, Use of mobile apps for data collection by the general public.

DAY & TIME: date and time tbd in NR 320

TEAM ADVISORS: Steven Fassnacht (ESS-WR), tbd (ECE), tbd (CS)

PROJECT PARTNERS (AND SPONSORS): Colorado State University Watershed Science Program, Natural Resources Conservation Service

DESIRED DISCIPLINES & PREPARATION:

Watershed Science/Geology/Civil Eng/Env Eng - Background/interest in hydrology, snow science, GIS
