Short: Last 28 years of northern Colorado from space – Randy Boone

Dr Randall Boone of NREL and the department of Ecosystem Science and Sustainability created this amazing video of northern Colorado in the last 28 years seen from the satellite Landsat 5.  Managed by USGS’s Earth Resources Observation and Sciences Center, Landsat 5 takes photos from its 400+ mile orbit as it circles Earth in 16 days.  Images taken by Landsat are often used to study the effects of climate and land use change.  Launched in 1984 for a 3 year mission, Landsat 5 retired at the end of 2011 after 28 years of looking at Earth and how it has changed.  Let us know what you think in the comments section.  Enjoy!
